In your editorial dated April 28, the Record stated “it is time to bring in an independent agency to investigate all the facts around the handling of these remains”. I completely agree. That is why I am calling for a thorough public review of all the files, records and communications relating to the cases of Joann Hobson, Chevelle Wheeler, Phillip Martin, Kimberly Billy and Cynthia Vanderheiden.
Since attorneys have filed a Motion in federal court to unseal public documents related to Joann Hobson, I believe the United States Attorney’s Office is the appropriate agency to review these cases.
Only by turning over all relevant information to a trusted federal agency for review will questions related to the handling of these cases be resolved. I look forward to the Sheriff’s Office agreement to this important request.
