SACRAMENTO, CA – Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani (D-Livingston) has selected Merced County Supervisor Kathleen Crookham of Merced as Woman of the Year for the 17th Assembly District. Eighty women, one from each Assembly District in the state, are selected annually. Galgiani selected Supervisor Crookham for her continuing and significant contributions to her community.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani (D- Stockton) is encouraging Californians to recognize “Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease Awareness Day” on November 14, 2007, in an effort to spread awareness about the symptoms and ways of preventing Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Galgiani announced today that Governor Schwarzenegger has signed her tide house exemption bill.  Assembly Bill (AB) 663 provides an exemption from the Tide House law for Banner Island Ballpark, a law that has placed restrictive limitations on advertising alcohol since the Ballpark’s opening in 2005.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani (D-17) announced today that Governor Schwarzenegger has signed her bill that attacks Medi-Cal fraud and identity theft.  Assembly Bill (AB) 381 was sponsored by the California Hospital Association, and received bipartisan support throughout the State Legislature.

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani (D-17) announced today that Governor Schwarzenegger has signed Assembly Bill (AB) 805, legislation she authored for the California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP) and the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC).  AB 805 protects officers from having their place of residence revealed on concealed weapon’s permits.  AB 805 received bipartisan support and quickly moved through the State Legislature.

Victim's Advocacy Group Makes Announcement at Annual Capitol Convocation

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymembers Greg Aghazarian (R-Stockton) and Cathleen Galgiani (D-Stockton) were named “Legislators of the Year” by Crime Victims United at the Annual Victims March on the Capitol today.  Crime Victims United is a victims advocacy group, led by Harriett Salerno, that helps organizes the annual march and is very active in lobbying the legislature and state government on matters related to crime and crime victims.

AB 308 Reimburses Counties for Past 3 Years of Mandated Mental Health Services

SACRAMENTO – Many California Counties are waiting for Medi-Cal reimbursements for State mandated Mental Health Services that go back to FY 2003-04.  One-Quarter Billion Dollars is owed to Counties, Los Angeles County topping the list with $110 million in un-reimbursed services for the Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment Program (EPSDT).

SACRAMENTO – Assemblymember Cathleen Galgiani (D – Stockton) and Assemblymember John Benoit (R – Bermuda Dunes) have requested that the California State Auditor conduct an operational audit of the Section 190 Grade Separation Funding Program.  Galgiani and Benoit  submitted the request to the Joint Legislative Audit Committee just before the Easter break.  The request has been forwarded to the State Auditor to be evaluated and scheduled for a hearing.
