Sen. McNerney to Chair Revenue and Tax Committee

Dear Neighbor,

Welcome to my first e-newsletter as your state Senator, representing the 5th Senate District, which includes Alameda County’s Tri-Valley and all of San Joaquin County. I am honored to succeed former Senator Susan Eggman, who termed out of office on Nov. 30 after a long and distinguished career in public service.

Many of you may know me from my 16 years in the U.S. House of Representatives, from 2007 through 2022, representing most of the same area that I represent now in Senate District 5.

I’m very excited about this new chapter of public service. Last month, I was sworn into office at the state Capitol, and am ready to hit the ground running as your representative in the Senate.

I am also proud to announce that I will be serving this year as the chair of the Senate’s powerful Revenue and Taxation Committee. In addition, I will be serving on the following additional Senate committees:

I will also serve on the Joint Legislative Committee on Fairs Allocation and Classification and the Delta Protection Commission.

The Senate Revenue and Tax Committee will play a key role in ensuring we continue to build a responsible economy that both spurs innovation and benefits all Californians.

In my other committee roles, I am committed to working on pragmatic solutions to making California more affordable for all. I am determined to accelerate California’s transition to clean energy, ensure that the nation’s largest agricultural sector continues to flourish for both farms and farmworkers, and make sure that our military veterans not only receive the benefits they deserve but also can access affordable housing.

In the months ahead, I’ll send you e-newsletters on a range of topics of importance to our Senate district, plus I’ll keep you updated on the legislation I’m carrying in the Capitol.

You can also check my Senate website for updates and more information, including a list of helpful resources.

Senate District 5 includes Dublin, Pleasanton, Livermore and Sunol in Alameda County, plus all of the cities and communities of San Joaquin County, including Stockton, Lodi, Manteca, Ripon, Escalon, Lathrop, Tracy and Mountain House. You can find a map of the district here.

It is an honor and a privilege to serve you in the state Senate.
