The No Robo Bosses Act, SB 947, was authored by Democratic state Sen. Jerry McNerney of Pleasanton. The first-in-the-nation measure requires human involvement when employers use automated decision systems to make disciplinary or termination decisions.
“You don’t want machines making decisions about human beings without some sort of human interaction, without a human being in the loop,” McNerney told NewsNation. “We shouldn’t let automated decision-making systems fire people without a human being approving that or guiding that decision in some way.”
