Former Congress member McNerney proposes new rules for ‘robot bosses’ in California
Former Democratic representative turned state Sen. Jerry McNerney wants to crack down on artificial intelligence in the workplace with a first-in-the-nation proposal for California that would limit how companies use automated tools to manage employees.
McNerney’s SB 7 would prohibit employers from using automated decision-making tools to make hiring, promotion, disciplinary and firing decisions without human oversight, according to details shared first with POLITICO.
