McNerney Bill Would Help Forever Chemicals Cleanup

Tri-Valley State Sen. Jerry McNerney introduced legislation last week that would create a special state fund to help local agencies and cities pay for removing toxic PFAS chemicals in their drinking water.

The proposal to establish the PFAS Mitigation Fund in the state’s General Fund drew quick support from the Zone 7 Water Agency and in Pleasanton, where cleaning up the so-called “forever chemicals” from the water supply is a top concern that has already cost millions of dollars.
