McNerney Selects Three Valleys Community Foundation as Nonprofit of the Year
SACRAMENTO – State Sen. Jerry McNerney, D-Pleasanton, has selected Three Valleys Community Foundation as Nonprofit of the Year for Senate District 5.
Three Valleys Community Foundation (3VCF), based in Pleasanton, is a community-driven philanthropic organization dedicated to improving quality of life across the Tri-Valley region.
“Three Valleys Community Foundation represents the very best of what nonprofit leadership looks like — bringing people together, advancing local solutions, boosting other nonprofits, and improving the health and wellbeing of communities throughout the Tri-Valley,” said Sen. McNerney, who is the chair of the Senate’s Select Committee on the Nonprofit Sector.
“This recognition is a powerful affirmation of what is possible when a community comes together with shared purpose,” said Dr. Kelly Bowers, president & CEO of Three Valleys Community Foundation. “We are grateful to Sen. McNerney for his continued support of nonprofits and for recognizing the transformational role of community foundations like 3VCF. His leadership in advancing SB 1240 to establish the Office of Nonprofit Empowerment reflects a deep commitment to strengthening the nonprofit sector and reducing barriers for organizations serving our communities. This honor reflects the collective leadership, generosity, and commitment of our Board, Advisory Council, Professional Advisors Network, fundholders, partners, and nonprofits that do extraordinary work every day. Together, we are turning local generosity into lasting community impact.”
Sen. McNerney will honor 3VCF at the annual Nonprofit of the Year event on May 20 at the state Capitol. The senator’s district includes Alameda County’s Tri-Valley and all of San Joaquin County.
Three Valleys Community Foundation supports and strengthens essential nonprofits throughout the Tri-Valley and builds partnerships that improve quality of life for the region. Through signature initiatives such as 925 Gives, Community Health Impact Grantmaking, and NextGen Philanthropy, 3VCF creates meaningful opportunities to make a lasting local impact.
The foundation also convenes the community through regional events such as the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Fellowship Breakfast & Awards and the State of Giving, inspiring connection, recognition, and collective action.
