McNerney Unites Legislators, Enviros & Water Agencies to Protect CA’s Water

Northern, Central, and Southern California legislators are uniting in support of SB 872, Protecting CA’s Water.

The legislation, which is also backed by a broad coalition of environmentalists and State Water Contractors that have often been at odds over water use, would safeguard both the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta and the State Water Project (SWP).

SB 872, along with an accompanying state budget request, will protect California’s main water system by directing $300 million annually to much-needed levee repairs in the Delta and shoring up SWP’s canals south of the Delta to prevent interruptions in essential water deliveries.
